Increasing access to higher education

A groundbreaking partnership between the John Deere Foundation, the University of Iowa, and the Davenport Community School District (DCSD) will increase access to higher education for Iowa high school students. The John Deere Scholars Program will provide scholarships, academic support, mentorship, and job placement opportunities for students to ensure their success during and after their time at Iowa.

Embedded counselor for veterans helps dissolve sigma around mental health

Since the creation of the embedded veteran counselor position in fall 2023, about 100 military and veteran students have attended more than 550 therapy sessions through the Iowa Veterans Education, Transition, and Support office.

Accessible Iowa initiative sets campus standards, next steps for digital accessibility

The University of Iowa has launched the Accessible Iowa: The Countdown to Digital Accessibility initiative to ensure that its digital content — ranging from websites and course materials to systems, services, and programs — meets the latest federal accessibility standards.

UI recognized as Patriot Employer by non-profit serving disabled Veterans

The University of Iowa has been recognized as a Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Patriot Employer for its commitment to hiring military Veterans. Iowa currently employs more than 500 self-identified Veterans and saw a 47% increase in Veteran hiring in 2024 compared to 2023.
